No. We are that special. What species has dominated earth that even comes close to human beings? It's not just the difference between a dinosaur and a wooly mammoth. There is no comparison.

Thank the cyanobacteria that oxygenated earths atmosphere starting around 2.3 billion years ago. They also caused one of the most significant extinction events on earth....human's aren't that far behind in causing the 6th Great Extinction event.

I wonder how the Dinosaurs felt about single celled organisms being the dominant species at one point. Those Dinos must've thought they were so special.

Yes, but the Holocene or Anthropocene Extinction sounds so dull. We need to think of something with pizazz. Ah, no matter...we'll never be able to out-name The Great Dying.

Neither dinosaurs, nor any other non-human creatures, have the capacity to think they are more special than other creatures.

Maybe, maybe not; but life sure has a way of advancing, both physically and intellectually - from simple bacteria, through the Dinosaurs, and all the way to Human Beings. We still exhibit the behaviors of other animals. We copulate, procreate, fight, kill, hunt, gather, eat, defecate, et. al. Thanks to an advanced intellect, we've found easier ways to do it all. It doesn't mean we're special. Badass, maybe - but not special.
