Maybe the christians in Europe have gone back to following Christ instead of trying to run the government and other institutions. Also, Americans have always had a love affair with guns, as opposed to Europe, and have always been suspicious of government. Guns are a sign of our independence. Christians tend to be more conservative in most ways than non-christians and are more prone to hold on to American traditions.
