Nintendo Switch

RE: Nintendo Switch
I wouldn't judge the name too harshly. At least it's better than just putting a higher digit on the next system. PS 2, 3, 4, ect. I skipped out on the WIIU but I may get this one. Mostly because Zelda seems to be going back towards it's explorative roots at last, and I don't want to miss out. Skyward Sword was incredibly linear, but frankly I had gone numb to it by then. But then we get ALBW, and now Breath of the Wild is coming out next year. The consoles are calling to me again.

Also I'm pretty sure the Wii outsold its competitors by a wide margin, so I don't know where this "Nintendo makes consoles?" thing comes from.

Yeah, but they did that by selling out to casual gamers and little kids, and then they flopped with the Wii U. That's why people like to joke about them making consoles.

^^^ This ^^^

The Wii was fine for social party games, it was groundbreaking in that regard. It was shit for serious gaming, IMO.

This thing looks kind of interesting, though I have to wonder how much inertia Nintendo has to overcome by giving up the non-casual console gaming space to Sony and Microsoft.

Impressive - it may be enough to tempt me back to Nintendo. I loved my Wii (fuck the haters etc) as a kid, but I never had the slightest interest in the Wii U, which in retrospect now looks like a poor proof-of-concept for this baby.

If it's got a touchscreen and can support VR, I'll strongly consider buying one. As for specs, I'm guessing it'll rival the PS4.

I bet Nintendo still has a lot of momentum left over from their glory days that if they can just correct the major mistakes, like their failure to get good third-party games, they should be good.

At least the market seems to think so. Their stock went up enough that the company gained $1,000,000,000 in value the day they announced this thing.

Get off my lawn!

I don't know about VR, and Nintendo is staying mum about whether there is a touchscreen.

OFC it was shit for serious gaming, but if we're talking serious gaming we're not talking about consoles anyway so....  Wink

What a coincidence. That's the excuse I'm going with, too.
