New Clinton email controversy
RE: New Clinton email controversy
Hard to believe how many e-mails the FBI found on the Weiner laptop. Approximately 650,000 e-mails were found. There's bound to be lots of good stuff in those. That is an insane amount of e-mails.

hopefully the media won't feel compelled to show any more pics of Weiner in various states of undress too

Assange agrees with what I've been saying all along (about 20 mins in):

Transcript here.

"[A Donald Trump presidency] would probaby be bad inside the US, it would probably be good outside the US"

That's been my analysis from day one. The only thing I'll say is that I don't think either of them will be "good" inside or outside the US, just that Clinton is worse outside the US, and Trump worse inside the US.

Assange then goes on to say that Electronic voting is "completely crazy", which is the same thing I've been saying. I will caveat that by saying that small-scale electronic voting appears to be helpful, such as allowing the blind to vote by phone rather than by filling in a Braille ballot at a polling place. I cannot imagine the difficulty a blind person would have numbering more than 100 boxes on a State Senate ballot paper:

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

Probably not. The Wikileaks revelations showed lots of well known journalists were having lavish dinners with close aides of the Clintons so they'll try to downplay anything bad that comes of this. After all, it's in their interests to lie to the public.

Depends on where you live, what you expect and what bad actually means. It may or may not be better in terms of not starting another unnecessary and pointless confrontation. But on the other hand it may be someone starting a war on a whim because of feeling personally insulted. If the houses stay in republican hands, there's a good chance of them not opposing him in his decisions.

But the more important point may be that a possible Trump presidency sends a clear signal all over the world, that even in the largest economy and most powerful country, you can run on a ticket of racism, misogyny and Xenophobia without having any real substance. That will encourage all the wannabes that are already gaining ground in Europe. It will also encourage other - on the outside - more moderate parties to pave the way for nationalism and xenophobia in the belief that this is the populous demand.

Both Hilary or Trump will be bad for the USA. But Trump may also ignite the next world wide economic crisis. He's surrounded himself with idiots and yes men. And he never was the business man he claims to be. There's a very real chance of ruining the American economy once again. If that happens, it's fasten your seat belts for the rest of the world. We haven't recovered from the last one as of yet and in it's wake the populous rightwingers and nationalists rose. Just like they did in the 30ies. Another helping of a crashing global economy may just be the death blow to democracy.

Assange is a shill. He had his 15 minutes of fame in 2007 when he still had coworkers doing his work. Now he's just out for glory and doesn't know the first thing about how the world works and how many contributing factors have to be considered in terms of good and bad.

That's not a fresh revelation. The rise of Far-Right parties in Europe has been well documented, you can do a search on Google Scholar and find plenty of Journal articles in Sociology and Political Science on it. I suggest reading this paper which discusses the multicultural ideal against that of the monoethnic-cultural State ideal. You need to register to read it (free).

That comment doesn't even warrant a response.
