Love the musical reworking of this.  Catchy beat and all.  But I'm surprised to note his voice doesn't compare well to the earlier versions I've heard, even though I've liked some Lou Reed.  Like this collaboration with Antony and the Johnsons on "Fistful of Love".

Ben E King's voice in the Drifter's version is better.  But I think it just demands a little more soul than Lou gives it.  Still I like it his way too.  But here is Neville doing it old school.

Lou's was the first version of this song I heard, so I wasn't aware of the fact, that he quite drastically changed the melody, especially in the chorus, therefore it didn't bother me. For the longest time I didn't even know it was a cover of a doo-wop tune. Consequently - I prefer this version over the overly sugary original and other, similar interpretations, even if Lou sounds like he couldn't be bothered to learn the song.
