What I mean is that, while he does describe himself as a socialist, the term has been demonized in this country to mean something different than what he's talking about.

That's the thing, I know you think that there was this clear good/evil divide between the candidates, and of course you would being an ardent supporter of Clinton, but for a lot of people, maybe even most of the non-voters, the divide was fuzzy.

Bullshit, Tibs.  "Good/Evil" are concepts for the theists to throw around along with the rest of their horseshit while inventing powers for their imaginary god.  In politics I'll settle for  competence and incompetence. 

The groups which did not turn out to support Clinton are going to be the first to suffer and then they will be whining.

I wondered if Obama cried himself to sleep the night after he had to graciously welcome into his home and job, and shake the hand of the man who spent years publicly questioning the legitimacy of his presidency. 



I'm not making fun of the man.  I will miss double Obama a lot.  But look at him....if looks could kill.  What thought is in his head right there?  Nothing good, I would bet everything I own.

I was watching excerpts from that interview last night on CNN's UK version, and every time Trump was in shot while the president was speaking he was fuming. I honestly think even with the most favourable conditions he won't last this term, he's temprementally incapable.

Honestly guys, even though I was all pro Hillary here at the end, if I'm going to be truthful with myself I had severe reservations. I just bundled them into a corner because the other option was horrifying to me. There is a psychological phenomenon where people love what they get even if it wasn't what they choose, and that was me all over.

So, even if Trump back peddles on the wall and repealing Obama care, you know the wealthy will be getting their tax cuts, and someone's gotta pay for that lost revenue so some social services and environmental regulation will be cut, no question. Even if all the racists climb back under their rocks, immigration reform of the harder type is coming, and the economy will not improve. LGBT people may retain their hard won rights, yay! But Global warming will continue unchecked, or probably even faster.

Anyway, there were obviously many factors in play here, it isn't ever as simple as a single thing. So let's work on cleaning our own house while the other side keeps burning theirs down. House cleaning may be unpleasant, but it needs doing. Get good, truly progressive people in 2018, and a candidate with some charisma and a clean nose in 2020. And get the effing millenials to vote!

I don't know why you're still rooting for Hillary after the fact. Bernie seems to be more in line with your general views, far as I can tell. It's obvious that the DNC had it's candidate and pushed for her to win. Bernie, lacking any support from the political branch, did well, all things considered. They torpedoed him whereever they could. If he could have won the nomination having equal support is anyone's guess. Just pointing out that the damage is already done and there's no need in defending Hillary anymore.

Job #1 for the DNC: End internal cronyism. Take pains to make the system transparent and fix-proof. Resign themselves to being facilitators instead of back room deal brokers. They really need to air it out.

If it's peoples' job to turn up and vote for Hilary then why doesn't she pay them? She has enough money. Or maybe Hilary could actually work hard to get votes instead of parroting clichés and platitudes.
