Of course it wasn't. Anyone old enough and honest to remember the 2000 POTUS election should've known it. Anyone who listened to Trump speak and who listened to his supporters should've known it.

Third party voters in POTUS elections are like a pebble in the shoe of the American political system. Most of the time they're a mere annoyance, but on occasion can position themselves in a way that makes the whole thing fall on its face. And that's what happened here. But now all the little pebbles want to disclaim any responsibility because they didn't like Hillary, and/or they didn't like Whatever. Well...

TRUMP.

It's not the voter's fault. I'm not sure why anyone would say it is, unless they're being purposefully disingenuous. If the parties want votes, they need to put someone up there that people want to vote for. stop shoveling crap in our faces, and blaming us for not liking the smell. It's not our fault the DNC couldn't manage to beat a guy who says "grab 'em by their pussy", "let's get rid of the FDA", and "torture people, even if it doesn't work".

They simply felt comfortable with the message Trump conveyed. So to say his campaign wasn't racist is certainly not how the outspoken and unabashed racists understood the message.

Yeah, not only did all the racists support Trump, they supported him enthusiastically. Yet all of the supposed non-racist Trump supporters are spending all of their time complaining to liberals that Trump isn't racist instead of trying to convince the admitted racists. If neo-Nazis falsely supported my candidate, I'd be pissed, but they're more interested in whining about liberals calling out all the racism than they are distancing themselves from the white supremacists.

Talk about tacit endorsement...
