Trolling rule

RE: Trolling rule
I've spoken many a time about Troy Brooks, aka Churchwork et al, over at the old Jesus Never Existed forum. He would continually spout his '4 step proof of God', again and again and again, responding to all discussion with "I am so glad you can't find fault with my proof" and how we were "shutting our minds down for satan" (my favourite was about there being no postcards in hell). It got to the point where he was shitting out literally dozens of threads per day all on exactly the same points. Eventually the whole member base had long and open discussions about what to do with him, whether kicking him out was infringing on his free speech. It was decided that he was being so disruptive that we had no choice but to make him the first non-spammer to be banned there.

Of course, it didn't stop him; he's notorious for his extensive sock collection. But it took disruption on that scale for a policy change. At least here we have protections in place, and none of them implemented without excruciating discussion of the effects.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You may think it's entirely subjective, EP, but then you're self-described solipsist, so you would think that.

Is that true? That he claimed to be a solipsist?

So Branson, Missouri isn't hell, after all.

I'll be damned. The things I learn from Christians . .  . Rolleyes

RE: Trolling rule
If it weren't for the exploiters of the initial faulty trolling rule it wouldn't have got amended to the more awesome one. It's like evolution and survival of the fittest: the antagonisers help us amend the rules. We absolutely need the rules. It's a comfort to me that the ONI rule was deemed superfluous because it was an attempt to supervene loopholes and that never works.

It's also like the God of the Gaps... it's just going to close further and further and further.

The opposition will always be needed for true evolution. Dissent is indeed necessary for progress.
