I;m not sure I understand where you think this goes, Alpha.  I "care" more about americans (in any ludicrous situation you care to offer up ill pick another american over anyone else).  What does that have to do with refugees or Syria, though?  I;m not even sure what the risk is supposed to be.

The Boston marathon, for example. The Tsarnaev family got around the refugee screening by coming here as tourists and then applying for asylum. You can argue that they're technically not refugees, but close enough for me.

Americans are the riskiest demographic -to other americans-...in america.  The "risk" of refugees is statistically irrelevant, and very nearly non-existent.  

Cool...let's keep it that way. We have enough problems of our own. Heck, we had race riots this summer despite having an African-American president. When we've cleaned up our own house, we can try taking care of the rest of the world.

When did it happen? when was it suddenly ok to be a selfish arsehole in the US, to be able to watch the suffering of the world and say "I'm ok you can just suffer". There seems to be a growing demographic over here as well, typified by the UKIP voters. But in America being a selfish arsehole seems to be a brand of pride.

The one and only reason I take issue with you is your holier than thou attitide. You're a christian. Great example of why someone shouldn't listen to someone like you. I feel comfortable in saying that - being an atheist - I'm more in line with Jesus than you will ever be. I just don't care about the teachings of your bible. I just want to be a decent person. That's an odd analogy, since the efforts to cure certain diseases are better funded than others... because those diseases affect more people every year. Seems people do listen to statistical arguments.
