I've never understood this maniacal need to keep people alive at any cost, even though by now they're more tubes than human and every moment is indescribable agony.

Absolutely. People who want to force others to live this way would often change their mind pretty fucking quickly once it's them on the machine in agony.

A whole multi billion industry is based on the oppression of one of our rightfully deserving human right. Think about it.

Fuck Big Pharma.

It's about time we dealt with those cunts.

I think ya got it backwards. It's people who are willing go to any length, are willing to pay any price, that will do anything to continue living. That's where the bucks are.

Sure, but that's a rich minority, wouldn't you agree?

Edit: the poor majority would rather spend 100 bucks to end their lives than take a loan to pay for their medical expense and then spend the rest of their lives paying back the loan

Nope. It's anyone with insurance/Medicare that says I want what ever you can give me to keep me living. If it's covered, they get it. They don't care about the cost. And the medical community profits (not just Big Pharma) in the continued lingering death. The longer they keep them alive the longer they can keep billing the system.

And if you're not covered and not rich? They will treat you into bankruptcy, then continue treating because the state/medicaid will pay.

The longer they can keep you alive, the more money can be made.

Are you speaking for the poor majority here?

Regardless, people should still have a say in whether they would rather spend a fortune keeping them alive or simply opt out of the whole process altogether. Nobody should have the power to force someone to live. My whole point is that our life should be our choice - not someone else's.

Well..I mean we already have that ability.  Nobody (assuming they're an adult) can be forced to accept treatment, and you can choose to deny treatment or cease treatment whenever you want.  Nobody can force you to spend a fortune to live.

The question at hand is whether people should have the right not simply to decline treatment, but actively seek out avenues of ending their own life.  I'm in agreement with most here that yes, that should be a person's right.

Fair enough.

I just support assisted suicide being legal and don't particularly care about whatever it is everyone is talking about now.

That's my view.

Exactly.

My body, my choice. If I want to go to a clinic and end my life, I should have every right to. The government doesn't own my body. Fuck em.
