I know a few people personally that were not able to get past the protesters to see the inauguration. There were many that never made it to the grounds. The whole disrupt J20 protester groups some peaceful, but many others that were physically and verbally assaulting people along with damaging property not only scared some people away, especially parents with young children, but also created jamed lines because protesters were bottle necking entry points to the inauguration spectator areas. Really the anarchists who created the property damage are all trash and cowards hiding behind masks and numbers.

Not to mention protesters were building walls of people preventing people from getting there, so that needs to be factored in.

If an entire million people were held back, it would still be less. And the transit numbers and hotel rentals still don't match, no one was held back on backnowledge there.

But the number isn't the issue. The lie is only part of the issue. The real issue is that he's clearly more concerned about his image than his job. That is not a good quality in anyone, let alone a national leader. But I know some people seem to find it admirable in him, for some baffling reason.

On watching that briefing as a foreigner living in another country, I have to say that this was my first impression. I was amazed that the first press briefing was predominantly about his bruised ego. And such a condescending tone of voice too. As I watched it I realised how this was actually far worse because it was a sign of how he wants to try gaining control over the mainstream media and / or discrediting it.

It's going to be an interesting two years that's for sure.

No, it's not. Trump didn't say it was the largest inaugeration to ever happen. Also, his press secretary making an offhand comment about a crowd he had just seen isn't the same as seriously contending that it was the largest crowd ever.

That wasn't an offhand comment, and it wasn't just after he had seen the crowd. If it were, how could he possibly have a comment on TV audiences?
