I'm down with the above. No Centaurs, though.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

We exploit nearly every animal on earth for our benefit...
Entertainment, working the fields, transport, food (yum bacon), etc.
And now we're all self righteous about creating something different.?
We're not about to stop doing any of the above any time soon, so why not fine tune it?
I'd like to see cows that produce beer and cholocate thickshakes for a start.
An ox the size of a mining Caterpillar truck ( more efficient)
What about a big Circus rabbit that can pull a man out of its hat?
Or for transport, I wouldn't mind crossing the Atlantic first class in a whale's mouth?
(OK, that last one was just bullshit....)

OP, what makes you think that we are not symbiotic hybrids now? If you think humans exist as a "stand alone" you are wrong.

Crossing any human with Donald trump would be definitely unethical.

We're going to incorporate some genetic material of other multicellular species into the human genome when the value added is high enough. We shouldn't use the technology to make slave races, but we shouldn't stop people from changing themselves and their germ line in safe ways for their own purposes, and that's probably going to involve borrowing some genes. They could be better adapted to certain environments, for instance.
The game changer will be making people smarter though, not more like other species. Some people think genetic optimization for intelligence could result in IQs over 400. That's sure to have some side effects....

If it makes humans healthier and can alleviate human suffering, then I'm absolutely for it. Go science.

Already been done. Didn't you see that video where he clearly wanted to bang his own daughter?
