I can do you one better. I don't even know what the people I socialise with are. It doesn't come up. My brother, sister in law or nephew - not even with them I know what they are. My sister in law seems a bit new agish, but I never really talked about it with her.
I have to assume they are theist until I hear different. I usually don't hear different.

It might seem alien to some people, but we really don't talk about it. It's a non issue. I assume some are atheist, some are deist and some theist, but I wouldn't know and I don't ask. It's that unimportant.

I don't think so. Religion is as old as time. All the civilizations across the world have had their form of religion/god. I think it's intrinsic to human nature. Though there are exceptions.

We can find evidence for religion at Lascaux dating back 40,000 years. and religion seems to arise in all societies (civilization not required) across the planet though only shamanism seems ubiquitous.

Is it a sign of my acute intolerance for religious people when I post items like wanting to poop in Jesus' nail holes ?
-or-
is it even worse when I post valid theological speculation about Jesus being tormented in HELL in all manner of vile ways by SATAN himself in order to secure Salvation for His believers ?
Did Christ have to take SATAN'S incandescent and burning caustic spooj up His precious rectum to win heaven for some otherwise condemned homosexuals ?

yaknow . . .
just dying and only being temporarily dead doesn't seem like much in the way of appeasement for Satan by Jesus for potentially billions of souls, right ?
Damn, you'd think being mercilessly and viciously tormented would make His sacrifice and inconvenience all the more impressive and therefore even more effective at garnering piety amongst the believers and recruits alike, no ?

Ohhhh it's not nice. Fuck off.
Blocked the annoying religious nut. I can only imagine what kind of crazy some religious person who hangs around an atheist forum must be.
Yeah, she must be quite mad to hang around with us, but that also means that we can't afford to be picky...

It was that way for the first few years after I left Christianity. I would bristle with annoyance if somebody just said "bless you." But now it's been 12 years and I can't allow other people to decide how my day is going to go. Anger can be appeased. Hatred can be made to look foolish. A cold reason is my friend now.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

On a day-to-day basis, I don't feel acute intolerance towards religious people.
My emotional response to outward displays of religiosity is usually one of bored indifference, or mild amusement.

Come on now, Christians are already going to hell for socialising with us. We don't need to put the boot in as well and make their lives miserable up until that time. Let's have a party and enjoy their company!

I believe the technical term is 'merdimboca'.
