That was in the bad old days when Christianity thought it was the only religion worth studying in Australia.
As someone who has read it all the way through I would honestly recommend reading it, just not the parts that are fiction.
So, read the covers.

I have a really old bible that belonged to my great grandparents but I never got around to actually reading it.
I wasn't raised religious at all, however some of my family class themselves as Protestants, particularly my grandparents, who while rarely attend church, they donate money every month. My first primary school was officially Roman Catholic which is odd looking back on.
Part of me doubts that my "religious" family members actually believe in that stuff. Here in Scotland, particularly my city, it's more of a cultural thing than anything else. Scotland is similar to Northern Ireland when it comes to the whole religious divide nonsense, except we didn't bomb each other to the same extent.

I've read it, though not in a single sitting. A more sickeningly tedious and tediously sickening pile of putridity I've yet to endure.
I still sometimes flick through it to see if I'm allowed to kill people.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I've read most of it piecemeal, and much of it many times. I was drinking the kool-aid , so I ignored the inconsistencies and brutality, for the most part.

I always thought the best bit was the dedication page: 'To my beloved Candy. Thanks for the wild night in Cabo.'

Only non-believers.
And foreigners.
And people who have something you want.
And non virgin, unmarried women.
And people who work on certain days.
And disobedient children.
And slaves.
And anyone the voice in your head commands you to kill.

Now you've confused me further! The front cover states: Holy bible.
Awaiting further instructions......

"Yes, most parts."
I'll confess, the Begats bored the living shit out of me, and so did other spots in the OT.

Beccs, there's only one page which is unanimously and universally the truth and nothing but the truth!
It's page 2 which writes:
THIS PAGE IS INTENSIONALLY LEFT BLANK
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
