The Law of Unintended Consequences Will Kick You In The Balls Every Time

Tough shit, Drumpfucks. He's your boy.

Quote:In the heart of real conservative Missouri, Branson went 78% for Trump and only 18% for Hillary Clinton.
Quote:Quote: A change out of Washington D.C. has businesses in Branson scrambling before the season.
An exemption in the H-2B Visa program – allowing temporary workers from other countries to come into tourist destinations – could leave hundreds of jobs in Branson unfilled in 2017, many of which are vital to the city.
"There is just such a tremendous shortage [of workers] in this area,” says Chateau on the Lake general manager, Stephen Marshall. “It's not that we don't want to hire locals, there's just not enough."
The Chateau, like many Branson businesses, relies on foreign workers to fill positions like service work, lawn car and housekeeping.
It's so easy to govern by slogan.

Raise the wages, employees will turn up. Labor demand econ.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Pay more for the same work, and presto, wage effectively go down for the rest of the populous, hits dumb trumpers who has jobs the hardest, party in power loses election, stops being able to fuck over women, minority, immigrates, and the very valuable people who were dumb enough to vote for them in the first place and all hell breaks lose.

But that's not how economy works these days, isn't it. Pay less, sell cheaper is the slogan. People have become so accustomed to buy the cheapest products that they don't notice anymore. And it's a vicious circle. The less people have in their wallets, the cheaper the goods have to be.

But goods aren't cheaper, otherwise personal debt wouldn't have skyrocketed.

That's not even remotely related. They are cheaper, yet not to the point of them being affordable to everyone. Just one example. Only ten years ago, I had to have a thousand to buy a half decent computer. Today I only need 300. Add to this inflation and you get the picture.
People indebt themselves because they don't want to be seen not to follow the latest hype. They're not indebting themselves over everyday goods.

Many goods certainly are cheaper, but interest rates are also loweR. Hence for the low income, lowly educated, skill deficit, gullible, right wing radio addicted and expectation enhanced trump voters can Indulge in the illusion of maintaining a certainty standard of living well beyond what could have been earned by their true productivity by borrowing to buy what is already cheap.

Its always heartwarming to read these threads where people with no background in economics nor any experience running a business and keeping profitable have all the solutions to economic problems. And its amazing how often those solutions seem to involve some form of just pay your employees more and problem solved.
