Most Villainous Actors?

Most Villainous Actors?
Finally got round to watching 'Spectre' and realized that Christoph Waltz is my favourite villain since the much-lamented death of the great Alan Rickman.

As Blofeld, Richelieu, Hans Landa, even as Chudnofsky in the otherwise (mostly) execrable 'The Green Hornet', Waltz seems to be a natural at projecting a sort of polished, urbane evil that is superbly effective. He effortlessly gives the impression that your life and well-being are completely inconsequential to him. If the 'Die Hard' franchise is ever re-booted, he's clearly the top choice to be the new Hans Gruber.

Can you think of any other film actors that are as good as Waltz at portraying this sort of character?

Joe Pesci best plays the psychopath you never want to piss off.

Granted, but he's not nearly as good an actor as Waltz.

Rutger Hauer in The Hitcher is scary enough, HOWEVER, supposedly Sam Elliot (!) auditioned for the same role, understood the script so well, and was so intense none of the other actors would work with him.

(I love that story, apocryphal or not)

The actress who played Georgia Mahoney on Homicide: Life on the Street was pretty fucking terrifying, and they also cast Mekhi Phifer as Junior Bunk who in one scene where he shot up the squad room, really established his acting chops as one scary motherfucker.

There is something about Christopher Walken that makes my skin crawl. His character of Max Zorrin in A View to a Kill was about as evil as they come.

Heath ledger did a phenomenal job as the joker in dark knight. Best villain I have ever seen.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Oh yeah, he basically carries that entire movie, which is not optimally written, with his charisma.

I apologize if I won't shut up about my three favorite movies again, but I think Gary Oldman should at least get an honourable mention. He supposedly only took the role because he owed Besson a favour, but he still shone in it. Also, pulling off that accent as a Brit...
