I appreciate the humor of it and might start using it.
I had to google this. Republican in Name Only.
Interesting that this is currently being used by Sarah Palin, and is a big Breitbart talking point.
I actually just spent about 15 minutes reading a Breitbart article, and the comments section. Enlightening, I must say. his core base seems to be turning on him over this issue. Some are starting to see that he just joined the swamp, and didn't drain it (duh to them, I would have bet money on that, he already WAS the swamp, just not a career politician...yet), and they see this health care bill as socialistic, still. They really want it back the way it was, which is ironically still including Medicare and Medicaid...so still socialism? Meh, with their level of understanding, who knows.
The point is, his batshit crazy base is mad at him. I love it.
OTOH, his poor, uniformed but not batshit crazy supporters are also abandoning him, as they are about to be royally fucked up the ass, and left without healthcare. I saw a video today where Bernie Sanders is visiting rural Midwest and northern areas and converting people, revealing republican lies. The town halls are igniting everywhere.
This leaves the hardcore Christians, who apparently voted for him to get Pence, so they could stop abortions (but make sure those babies have no healthcare or food, cause pro-life, right?) and make sure those den gays stop butting in on the one woman one man (many divorce) Christian marraige thing. Being mostl middle class, I expect some of this base will continue to support him and Pence, because this doesn't hurt them or their pocketbooks, and being True Christians like some of our "friends" right here on AF, they don't give a fuck about the poor.
At this point, I would be thrilled to see them rollout single payer. Or just Fix the ACA (return the provisions from the original bill that they gutted that protected the insurance companies so that rates wouldn't go up, things like that), but they won't. They would lose some voters, but gain many more. Fuck, I'd vote for any politician that actually helped reduce income inequality, safety nets for the poor and elderly, etc.
But of course, this isn't about healthcare, anymore than anti-choice is about pro-life. It's about giving more tax breaks to the wealthy. This healthcare bill is just a cover for the new tax cuts for the rich, which is all the GOP has actually been about for the last 30 to 40 years.
