Nonsense.  Bismarck was far too shrewdly insightful a geopolitical observer to be taken by the lure of empire building.  He tried to achieve balance of power in Europe and cautioned Germany against colonial expansionism abroad.   The core of his policy was the skillful use of diplomacy to remove irritants, and shift alliances, to ensure Germany's opponents have insufficient power to go after Germany alone, as well as insufficient incentive to gang up on Germany.

Don't confuse the expansionist and unilateralist policies outlook of Wilhelmina Germany under Billy ii, who dismissed Bismarck, with the polices and outlooks of Bismarck.  

Just before Bismarck died, he predicted the time it would take for policies of little billy to bring an overwhelming military alliance to bear against Germany and result in total military defeat of Germany.   He predictions were both accurate to the year.

The good thing that might come out of trump administration is from mainstream to progressive, there could finally be the realization that to combat the right, it is not sufficient to have the truth seeker or the unbiased referee mentality. What is required is absolute bloody mindedness, absolutely focus on not just defeating, or crippling, but extinguishing the opposition in all its manifestations, and the willingness to achieve maximum overkill in each political contest, and follow through each overkill with some more overkill.
