I hope you measured that in pounds, whatevs!
Do keep in mind that a full bladder is worth a pound! And lots of crap in your gut is worth... a lot!
That just to say that, for a more accurate comparison, you should always weigh yourself after dumping and peeing. (where's CL when you need her?)

It says kilograms. I'll bet that's even less weight, huh?

So I haven't checked in. My goal is to be far along enough recovering from knee surgery that I can walk normally by the end of the month, and not put any weight back on.
Today was the first day I went to work without an assistive device since the surgery. I only work half a day on Friday but I also did a bunch of chores and a couple errands. I'm paying for it now though, and I think I'm not quite ready to give up my cane.

I just kind of skimmed through the couple of pages, the first couple of weeks, you are going to be hungry pretty much constantly if you're doing a substantial calorie reduction (e.g
1-2lbs a week, 500-1000 calories per day).
Celery, carrots, cucumbers, dill pickles, lettuce, cabbage - and most other vegetables are your key to gorging yourself through this period. You can't slather it in fat, but you can make some tasty stuff from raw and steamed vegetables that you can eat in nearly unlimited quantity. A small amount of salt, garlic, and a minimum of olive oil can do a lot to bring flavor to the table. Overcooking destroys flavor, texture, and nutritional value so don't do that.
A nice crisp apple makes an excellent snack if you need something sweet. Buy good ones, ya cheapskate. Or bananas. Some of you don't like bananas, excellent - more for me. Point is, eat lots of stuff from the produce department. Fiber FTW.

According to myfitnesspal I can have 1910 calories a day and still lose 2 pounds a week. Seemed to work.
Also I agree that veggies are great because you can load up. But you need a certain amount of fat and protein too, especially the protein. They make you feet full and satisfied, but some kinds are better than others. And never eat transfat. Nuts are a great source of fat.

No, of course you're right. I'm mostly talking about the between meal snacks.
The right kind of fat is important, yeah. Non transfat at all, and I limit the oils I use to butter, olive, coconut, and canola oil. I don't shoot for a low fat diet at all, I go for balance, and that - as you say - needs a good amount of the right kinds of fats.
For breakfast, I usually have something like eggs and toast, prepared and dressed appropriately for my desired caloric intake. I don't pretend to know the science behind it but I subjectively feel that it gives my metabolism a boost. Works for me.

I am 52 and 6 1 and last time I weighed myself I was 236 pounds. I live out of a microwave and I am at home 5 days a week. But I love walking and average 2 . 5 miles a day when I am out of the house and I can walk a maximum of up to 7 miles a day. I have been doing it since 1985. I never had a car and I do not like waiting for buses and so walking is the ideal thing. I plan on doing it till
the day I die. I do weights on non walking days. Not much just 100 X 5 X 2 kilogrammes but I have to do it otherwise my mind will make me. Last year I started measuring the time between meals
A 2 hour minimum rule. I have discovered sitting in front of a computer makes hunger virtually disappear. My current record is 20 hours 10 minutes. I have a 48 hour body clock. This is unusual as
most people have a 24 hour one. I regularly stay up for over 30 hours on nothing stronger than black tea but have gone past 50 hours though this is very rare. I have currently only been up for 20 hours and 24 minutes but will go to bed after posting this so as not to miss any good television tomorrow. I want to live till 80 since that seems the right age to die : not too old and not too young

Hey, losers!
CD, excellent post. I agree that gorging on raw or cooked in next to nothing veg is the way to go. I just made an avocado, tuna, onion, cucumber, olive oil and salt salad for lunch. So fucking good. Mind you, if you eat too much avocado, you're getting a shitload of calories, but they are tasty and have healthy fats. I've also poured out portions of protein cereals to snack on between meals. I wind up shopping much more often on this diet.
I've lost about 1.5 pounds this week. Woot.

I only went to the gym twice so far. Now that I don't have classes, I will be going to the gym more often.
