If all of the above fail, I recommend a blow lamp and the liberal application thereof.
As a bonus, your board will immediately acquire an interesting texture that is sure to make you the envy of your friends and neighbors.

Try a flamethrower, that should do it (especially after alcohol and acetone)

Rubbing alcohol did it just fine.
I was a little worried, there are several markers in the mug, and I was afraid I might have used the permanent laundry marker.
And it's even more embarrassing when I realize I have had some material science classes over the years . . . .
