That's a misunderstanding, I was talking about the band Decapitated and their ages when they released their debut album, the numbers your kids gave you for that other band may well be correct.

Now I have! Good one! No really, not precisely my style, but interesting. I like the drumming on the second song.

- The japanese with English snippets thrown in sounds funny

- I like their (incredibly Japanese) concept of presenting themselves as coffe maids playing hard rock/metal

- The way their songs are written, they would only have to slightly up the aggression and their sound would fit into contemporary Modern Metal/Metalcore crowd in my opinion.

- If only they would drop the Autotune. But they are Japanese, they need some acoustic plastic Smile

That you posted a Japanese act reminds me of another aspect of the discussion with @FaithNoMore who was complaining about the clichéd artwork and image of some metal bands: There are dark/black metal bands in Asia who do not come from a Christian background. I find it really interesting to see what their take on the Genre and style is.

I first saw them on tour with Arch Enemy, incidentally.

That's fine, we all have different tastes.  Smile

That's one of my major complaints about metal. The themes metal acts use were horribly cliche by the turn of the century, but they still use them and think it's edgy.

(Sorry, I don't mean to bash metal, but like I said, I've been watching videos about it in part to try and understand it. And I just do not get it.)

Chthonic from Taiwan for example mainly deal with history and politics:

I love their outfits (and their makeup, especially the lead singer!) they dress like that to defy expectations. Cute outfits but 'wild' music and all that. Another strange (by Western standards, at least) thing is that they refer to their male fans as "masters" and female fans as "princesses", and their concerts as "servings" as the Wikipedia article mentions. I suppose that is part of the whole maid image. It's different and I like that.

You will find no disagreement here. They could do with going a little 'heavier', but hey, who knows? They might do that in their future albums.

They actually sound quite good live compared to a lot of bands out there, in my opinion, so I agree that dropping any voice modification would be an excellent idea. Sorry for the shitty quality, it's pretty much the same with every live video out there.

If those live vocals are without auto tune (and it sounds as if they were), she has a pretty good intonation for a metal live act Smile
