Why can't Christians accept the fact that Hitler was a Christian
#21
RE: Why can't Christians accept the fact that Hitler was a Christian
Can we agree that, prior to Hitlers german state, christians had committed atrocities and genocide? Or is that also something that christians would rather sweep under the rug.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

I agree, it's not all roses and sunshine.

To me, Herr Hitler comes across as much more of a Pauline CINO Christian as opposed to a Jesus Christian.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

And, while we are at it, can we also agree that anti-semitism pre-dated Hitler in the fine xtian lands of Germany?

Quote:In 1871, Germany became a unified nation. A new nationalist fever, coupled with additional strains as the young nation struggled to balance rapid industrial growth, social change and traditional ways, led to an increase in social stress and class division. Several respectable German leaders exacerbated traditional anti-Semitism by pointing to the Jews as a principal cause of the upheavals. Historian Heinrich Treitschke wrote a long essay in 1879 in which he claimed that the fundamental differences between German Jews and Christians could not be reconciled, and that the Jews had "usurped too large a place in our life."

Soon, readers of Treitschke's essay and other anti-Semitic tracts were advocating legal measures against Germany's Jewish population. By the mid-1890s several laws had been proposed in the German Reichstag to limit Jewish education, participation in the professions, and other rights of German citizens. Although none of these measures had been enacted, prejudice against Judaism in Germany was growing.

Well... Hitler did Christians things they were so Christian that Christians these days say no Hitler isn't a Christian.
that fact is technically speaking Hitler is more of Christian than most Christians are these days.

To take Hitler's comments in support of Christianity as evidence that Hitler was a Christian is very shaky ground. It precludes the possibility that (get ready for a shock) Hitler may have been lying.

Far be it from me to defend turn of the century Germany against accusations of antisemitism, but no need to limit yourself to the christian lands of Germany, when Henry Ford wrote "The international Jew" in the fine Christian land of USA 13 years before Hitler rose to power... I'm not saying there wasn't virulent Anti-Semitism in Germany, but it wasn't exactly a regional thing... By the time the Nazis really took power, it had long been a fashionable idea in certain circles in the west.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

In point of fact nearly everyone who says they're a Christian is lying. To themselves.

He was not really standard follower. He had a belief in providence from above, he really was his own brand of Catholic/deist/occult. But he was NOT an atheist who said "there is no such thing as a god".

He regardless still convinced a majority Christian nation to follow him so it still wouldn't matter. Stalin was an atheist but again, the majority during his rise, as it is still today is Russian Orthodox Christianity. It is also a myth that China is a majority atheist. China is authoritarian sure, but like Stalin and like Hitler, it wasn't religion they target but all types of dissent that went against their 1 party rule. Cuba is a majority Catholic.

The god of Abraham is an immovable authoritarian figure whom isn't voted into office and you cannot remove him from office. The effectiveness of a closed oppressive state works the same way blind loyalty to a God does. The same way the oppressive theocracies of Iran and Saudi Arabia work, blind loyalty.

Even North Korea has it's own weird state religion based on Asian traditions. Blind worship of a God is just as bad as blind worship of a state regardless of the leaders personal beliefs.
