By successfully installing trump, Russia still ensured no one is looking at its land grab in Ukraine.   Trump's cruise missiles did absolutely nothing to inconvenience Assad.   The stink about chemical weapons is nothing worse than Hillary would have done.   The rabidly anti-Russian Poland and the Baltic republics are still terrified and huddling inside their own borders rather than thinking of building further buffers between themselves and Russia By taking chunks out of Russian sphere of influence through NATO.

No, I think Russia has no buyer's remorse, and is laughing its head off in private over how much it has gained, and how easy it is avoid scrutiny over how it gained these by just simply complaining a little about trump.

No, they took the "better the half wit who has given you so much to blackmail him with, then the evil you know" position, and I doubt they are complaining.

I would be surprised if the Russians didn't hack the IRS and have all of trump's tax returns at this point, just for starters.  Even without the tax return or any hacking, they only need to release any dossier and minutes of conversation they compiled on trump associates with whom they had contact since 2015 for trump to spontaneously combust.

NP, it's kind of amusing stuff.  The russian government has an issue.  Corruption, grift.  Attendant to that grift is a manner of securing it away from agencies of russian state that might be able to access or confiscate it.  Capital flight.  Real estate has become a popular tool for illegal capital flight from actors within the russian state and close to putin.  Publicly, the russian state has spoken out against this and even taken action to combat both capital and actual flight (ie..russian officials and/or oligarchs sending their kids -and- money to the US).  However, due to the level of corruption, and those we know or suspect to be involved....it seems that any action is more or less a means of throwing low level particpants and rivals under the bus as flak.

It's easy to see why this happens.  If you can shelter ill-gotten gains in foreign real estate, that the real estate might end up showing a loss is written off as the price of the other, more important but silent service.  Laundering those gains.  It's a bonus when they make money, ofc...because the whole chunk goes to the cleaners when the transaction is made.

When a heaping wad of russian money finds it's way into a high profile new york real estate developers hands...you can bet that a nice chunk of it is illicit, either from the pov of the russian state, or the us.  The Donald cut his teeth (or got stooged through it by smoother operators) on this sort of scam with his "casino" - more accurately a warehouse full of convenient money laundering devices(lol).  His wealth (and his legal status) are both implicated and endangered by this relationship.  That was -before- he was president.  Now that he is, in what is just about a gift from the gods of realpolitik...is that the russian state could, at any time it wanted to throw someone under the bus..implicate the president of the united states as being involved in their corruption and capital flight scandal.

In a sane america, that would be more propoganda than truth...but this is trumps america now.......... Dodgy

I'll concede that this might be accurate, but at this point all I see is speculation.

A little late to the thread, but I seriously doubt that Putin didn't know that his bottom boy Trump was a loose cannon.

I'm not sure what you mean Brewer?  Trump being up to his eyeballs in foreign, russian capital, and russian capital having a serious issue with illicit capital flight isn't speculation.

If you think that the idea this gives the russian state leverage is speculation..sure, I suppose so.  If I had millions on the line should a sensitive political and economic issue between two antagonistic states change, or should their relationship with me change (ie..america wants to indict me for something under their laws..or russia wants to indict me for something under theirs)...then I'd be pretty damned inclined to shut my face and know my place. Thing is, it doesn't really matter if I maintain (or even prove) my innocence by establishing that I was an unwitting accomplice...I still wouldn't get to keep the money.

And people wonder why peaceful protests these days are turning violent.

Neo cons need to realize we cannot the world cannot afford a clash between world powers that have a nuclear arsenal
this isn't WW2. We have the power most first world nations have the power in their finger tips to completely end life on earth as we know
it but we are smart enough not to be pressing that big red button. I mean hell we have the NPT as a result of oh yeah nukes.. um we should
sign this pact so we don't destroy everything.

Um...... wut?

Most of first world nations could literally end the world as we speak when talk abut combined nuclear stock pile
that is the reason why we have the NPT. Neo  cons want a war but all i am saying is if neo cons push a war against another nuclear capable
nation such as Russia the results won't be good for anyone.
