AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
I've been noticing some new capacity. I've been doing the stationary bike 3-5 times a week for about half a year now. I've been setting the resistance at 13 (whatever that may mean). At first I just tried to keep the mph above ten but for a while now I've been consistently between 13 an 15 mph. The last time I went I finished the last few minutes going between 17 and 19 mph. I'm only keeping it up for just over half an hour. I think on days I don't have Pilates class I'll try to up that to an hour. I'm also noticing my weights at every station I do going up. On the down side my formerly bad knee has been complaining a little more. But my weight is staying under 190, so only 5-6 pounds above my best low (182). Maybe I will be able to shave off the final pounds to get to my initial goal of 175 without doing anything more than making good choices. If I get there I'll get some advice on a regimen to get my waist size down too. I've been at 38 for quite some time. I'd probably be satisfied at 36. I think I was 32 in high school when I weighed 165.

Let me know when it's time. I can ask my cousin for waist-trimming exercises. He's a lean, mean beast.

Almost there with the abs. It's time I take exercising and dieting to overtime so I get it clear cut.

Decided we are going to sign up for a family membership for the county community center(s) for the fitn1ess facilities, pool, and things like Zumba and Yoga.

You might like the pool walking and pool aerobics classes.  Lia does them at least twice a week and all her senior friends are doing them regularly too.  Very easy on the joints.

Not sure what will happen when the young, energetic gay instructor takes off.  Lia really likes that guy because he is so animated in his programs.  I tease her about her cabana boy fantasies.

That used to happen to me all the time (the standing straight thing), but physical therapy reallllly helped my back. I still have some trouble, but it's like night and day.

Day 5: Had to eat the husband today. It broke my heart today, but the hunger inside me was too strong.

Anyway, had a chocolate muffin provided by the weight loss food company. It was pretty good. Lunch was a peanut butter bar that was seriously hard from sitting in a backpack cooler all day while we walked around the New England Aquarium. I ate a bunch of veggies too. Tonight, it's beef chili, more veggies and another protein bar. Two more days and I'm on the normal part of the diet. I'll be glad to kiss this 1,000-calorie-a-day diet goodbye.

Oh, and I've lost three pounds in four days.

It was better when I would stretch 2x a day or more. But that much stretching is a major pain. Actually I would stretch almost every time I sat for an extended period.

Wait....I haven't seen tibs around Z.z.z.z.om* uh you know I bet the cure is out there. We're here for you. *scans room for improvised exits* *backs away slowly* Why don't you try some more chili?  You know my brain has all sorts of foreign chemicals. I'm sure it would taste nasty.

lol couldn't resist Tongue

But seriously, I'm glad you're losing weight Smile

That sounds really good Smile . I only just started with cycling and I mainly use setting 2 out of 1-8. Congrats! It seems you're well on your way. AFAIK the only way to reduce your waist size is to reduce bodyfat. If using muscles reduced fat level to specific parts, people that do manual labor with their upper bodies might have freakishly ripped arms but be chubby or more everywhere else. At least if we're talking about spot reducing. But stronger abs are always a good thing.

Aqua aerobics was one of the things I'm interested in.

I intend to swim laps after some remedial swim instruction and some endurance work.

I did it.  Today at the Y I rode the stationary bike with the same resistance setting with the goal of burning through 500 calories.  That took 55 minutes and 10.5 miles.  I was also able to get through all my weight stations before Lia finished with her aqua aerobics class.  Think I'll have to make this the plan on non-Pilates days.

Also, the banana chocolate chip scone & coffee were all the more enjoyed for having paid for the calories upfront.

I binged on ice-cream yesterday. Woke up, and my abs, don't see them no more. Flab... it's gone....... I'm devastated. Sad

Day Six/Seven, whatever: I stayed within my allotted calories, but because of some personal stuff going on, I wasn't home for most of the day, and I will be out of the house the rest of today and tomorrow. I wasn't able to eat any vegetables (eek) or keep to the foods given me by the program. However, I did wake up yet another pound lighter this morning. Hopefully, this eventful two days won't knock me off track.
