Well hope all goes well in France. I'm going there in September to visit Paris. At least there will not be any leftist rioting in the streets, and I doubt the right wingers will be out in force.

One of the main reasons for Brexit is isolationism - if May (or whoever wins the election) tries to sell the idea of joining another EU to the half of the country, that voted "Leave" - they will throw a fit. France has a large - and growing - population of Muslims and - in the minds of Leavers - they all want to cross the Channel and settle over here. All the while - the other half of the country would be mortified by the thought of joining ranks with someone like Le Pen. Your idea is a non-starter, at least until both UK and France end up in some deep financial, or political crisis - and even then it would take years for isolationists to drop their naive ideas of "independence".
