Experimented on my daughter's hair tonight in preparation for her Homecoming dance on Saturday:

That's my own design and I obviously will take care of the finishing touches such as taking care of the fly away's and loose ends, but this is the general idea.
I did a rope twist while incorporating ribbon in each twist. We tried to match the color of the ribbon as close to her dress as possible so the picture isn't doing it justice. I will incorporate either some baby's breath into the center and sides of the bun or I will use some of those wedding type beads on single strands. I will take a picture of the finished product, for sure

I asked because it seems like a lot of people think i'm younger than i am. I've had people asked if i was over 18 and i'm like what??? I'm actually 34.

Oh wow that looks awesome! I wish my mom would have be able to do my hair... instead she let me hold her AK47 before she went to Iraq... lol anywho your daughter is going to look amazing and I can't wait to see the final result!!

That's so cool! Do you do the woodworking yourself, too or just the finishing? What other examples do you have? SO COOL!!!!!!
(This is the sort of thing my dad would love - if you do elk or deer or mountain scenes we might need to talk  )

The initial sketch was closer to the source image so in that respect I think it turned out better than the other, and I also think the colors are better, too, I guess. Less muddy than the other one.
I should drag out my huge color chart and see what other mixable colors I can come up with for some interesting combinations. I also have colors I need to add to it, anyway...

Thank you all for the compliments on my daughter's hair. This is why I wanted to go to cosmetology school. And I'm thrilled that she loved what I did.
She made a necklace and a bracelet to go with her dress. Here's the necklace:

My own mother never taught me how to do my hair or put on makeup or do any of the girly things we're supposed to learn as we grow up. Going back to school for this was the best decision I could have made.
