Greetings, fellow godless folk!
I've been reading various threads, and thought that I would introduce myself before joining in.
I'm an old guy and am probably older than most of you all.
I became an atheist about a half century ago in college.
I also became a Republican.
In the years since I have derived some value from the concepts with which religions deal, but have become more convinced that the god of the old and new testaments and the koran does not, exist, did not pass on some secret knowledge, and that the billions of people who still believe are, to put it simply, primitives.
I also still believe in many of the values that attracted me to the GOP, but those bastards have wandered off into the wilderness, taking as much wealth with them as they could collect.
So, I apologize for my Republican past, and pray for forgiveness to Joe Pesci, believing, as did George Carlin, that he might be able to actually do something.
I am disabled and retired from my profession, but am a long time member of The Society of Wine Educators.
As a Certified wine person, I would start a wine thread here if there is interest.
I host a wine show on Public TV, and love to teach.
Hope to make some new friends here!
Bill Hopkins
