When I was a child, I almost drowned, because I jumped into the water at the same time as a Labrador, to chase a ball. It was a bright ball, and I had a bright colored bathing cap on, and the dog mistook my cap for a ball. He bit down on my face, and almost drowned me. Almost the last mistake of my life.
Quitting a job without giving my employer notice, because the job I was going to wanted me to start work immediately. It was rude, because the people at that workplace deserved better, and now I'm on a blacklist and can't go back. It's also risky to use them as a past reference, because future employers might worry I'll do the same to them.
