If a guy is fat/obese, he can have the greatest personality and I still would not find him sexually attractive.

I find personality misleading at times as some present only what they want others to see. I've met women who were sweet and kind only to later become jealous and obsessive to the point where they got creepy and violent about it. Just like i've met woman who came off as rude and bitter, but were really sweet and compassionate once you really got to know them.

Overall, i find looks and personality to be a bit overrated. There are plenty of women with both. I may like them as a person but that doesn't mean i have any sexual or romantic attraction towards them. There has to be something deeper than that for it to be an authentic attraction.

I'd take a guess that the attraction to Bill Maher makes sense in terms of evolution.

For a man it makes more sense to get young fertile eggs, for a woman it makes sense to get a powerful man with money, resources, status and so on.

I don't think Bill's jokes or laugh would work as well on women if he worked at a petrol station.

On a different topic I think people, rightly or wrongly, can go for the same kind of relationships their parents were in.

I was at a bus station once with some drunk heroin addicts who were telling me they had just been trying to fraudulently get drugs from the local hospital, and the woman randomly declared that she loved violent men.

But what's funny is that you think that what attracts us is his money and "power". Lmao suuuuure because the tv and internet don't have so many other rich younger and better looking dudes to stalk if we felt attracted to those things. It doesn't even make sense.

Also... I'm thinking of the top 7 people who I find attractive (non famous) at this time and I know for sure that 5 of them are broke. Lol hadn't thought of that, but since it came up, why not? I'd buy their beer, no problem. Efff. I do have a weakness for intelligence paired with a smooth, cool, and funny personality. Dude can live in a basement, but know how to build a computer, flirt, and just be cool as fuck, and boom. I once went crazy over a woman I met (whom I still regret losing) and I would have been the sole bread winner if I had kept her close, no problem. If that's what she wanted. Faaaaak. She was special. So anyway, nah. Your theory, at least in my case, doesn't pass. I know it's a long response but dammit! I'm saying that it makes sense in a deep subconscious way for women to place a high importance on dominance, resources and status.  But not that you personally would go for him because you consciously know he has money and power.

I'd go for young women who have big tits, firm skin, nice thighs and so on.  My brain has sorted that out for me because those are signs of fertile eggs, but I'm not personally out there consciously searching for young fertile eggs.

I'd make a prediction you might disagree with, I think that if the girl I quite like in the warehouses I work in magically aged to be 61 (Bill's age) I'd be less attracted to her.  

And I think if you met Bill and he was working in our warehouses you'd be less attracted to him.  Not, suit and tie, Bill.  5 ft 7, 61 year old fork lift truck driver Bill.

I don't even know you so I could be wrong, but I know if I worked with 5 ft 7, 61 year old fork lift truck driver Bill, and he had a girlfriend who looked like you I'd be thinking Bill's either deceptively rich or he's packing some untold level of girth down there.  There has to be some unseen value here.

As for being able to build things, being good at flirting, those things are sort of projections of intelligence, status and dominance.  So that's not surprising.

But my final thought that I'm repeating is that I don't know you, some people just go against the grain.  I'm just humbly suggesting some evolutionary biological reasons for why a woman might find Bill Maher attractive.
