ABBA hinted at it but this lady hooked me.

When I was a kid ABBA was my first favorite band, and while the are known for disco, a couple of their tunes left me wanting something harder.
The guitar riff in "Mamma Mia" was my first hint at what I wanted. But the song "On And On And On" was even heavier.
However the Disco revolt in the late 70s caused me to abandon my roots. I am back to them now, but in the early 80s liking ABBA was a death sentence. So one night a friend introduced me to this powerful voice.
Now, let me clue you in, that was then, and while I still like her music, believe me people, celebrities are NOT your friends, they are just people you know of, and like their work.
But this lady was what lead me to future likes such as Metallica and Living Color.
And for those old enough to remember the start of MTV, this was the SECOND video played on MTV. For extra credit, name the very first video, not Pat Benatar, but the first band played on MTV.....

Come on. There was some great music from the 80s.
Pat Benatar was awesome, though she did do a remake of Wuthering Heights that I've refused to listen to.
And I think the first music video on MTV was by Dire Straits?

You're so young... incorrect too.
The first video was Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles.
And that is an answer to a trivia question that EVERYONE in their 40's better know.

To quote the Afflack commercial where the Duck is playing golf and cheats and one other player asks the other "Is that legal?" And the third guy says "That would be a big fat NO!" It was not Dire Straits.

The Buggles? She says before reading Nymph's earlier response.
