Bill Cosby Case: mistrial

Bill Cosby Case: mistrial
Quote:The prosecution presented its case in four-and-a-half days. The defense took all of six minutes. The criminal trial of Bill Cosby, a once universally-beloved pop cultural icon now accused by nearly 60 women of sexual misconduct, came to a close on Monday afternoon. Then the jury began to deliberate.

Fifty-two hours later, the jury could not reach a verdict. Judge Steven O’Neill declared a mistrial.

wow . . . .
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

What a load of shit! Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you a mistrial after raping girls for 4 decades.

There's poor people's justice and rich people's justice in the US. Cosby got rich people's justice.

Prosecutor vows to try again, apparently.

Statute of limitations applies to everyone.

I have an acquaintance at 12 Steppers who managed to avoid a massive IRS ding by the simple expedient of just putting them off until the clock ran out. Not having the money anymore as an argument with them wasn't making much headway (he blew it on drugs and firearms) but running out the clock worked REALLY well.

Genuinely curious - was that the issue the jury deadlocked on? I couldn't find it in the article in the OP.

Color me shocked. Rapists almost never go to jail. Too much doubt surrounding the women taking so much time to come forward, and the credibility (and morality) of the plaintiff called into question.

He will get away with it. Most of them do.

Statute of limitations prevented, IIRC, an additional 59 prosecutions.

There are enough of them, however, to go for a class action lawsuit . . . .
