That'll be the fun thing they have to reconcile. Either Han Solo was really bullshitting when he said that, or maybe it can be explained by a race going around a black hole in which a shorter distance indicated a more daring trajectory. Either way, 12 parsecs can only be flown using a hyperdrive, and I don't know how that would be integrated into a race. I hope they are a bit smart and creative about it.

I can honestly say that I've never had that experience.
