The Official "Damned Trump" Thread

RE: The Official "Damned Trump" Thread
Quote:Trump gives Russia a beautiful gift

President Donald Trump has just given Russia what he might call a "beautiful" gift. According to the Washington Post, Trump has decided to dismantle a US program that was arming and training some of the rebels fighting the Syrian dictator, President Bashar al-Assad. When asked about the report, the White House and the CIA declined to comment.

The decision grants Vladimir Putin one of his long-sought changes to US policy in the Middle East, and it does it in exchange -- as far as we can tell -- for nothing at all.

Quote:Trump tweets that the president 'has complete power to pardon'

President Trump, in one of a long string of Saturday morning tweets venting various frustrations, confirmed that he is pondering presidential pardons related to the probe into his campaign's potential collusion with Russia.

In the tweet, Trump said a president "has complete power to pardon," suggesting he believes he can pardon himself, or is at least not ruling it out.

Quote:Secret Clinton-era Ken Starr memo provides blueprint for indicting President Trump

A Pulitzer Prize New York Times journalist used the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain a 56-page legal memo which concludes a sitting President can be indicted.

The Times reports that the legal memo, “amounts to the most thorough government-commissioned analysis rejecting a generally held view that presidents are immune from prosecution while in office.”

Independent Counsel Ken Starr commissioned the 1998 memo, which was written by prominent conservative legal mind Ronald Rotunda.

“It is proper, constitutional, and legal for a federal grand jury to indict a sitting president for serious criminal acts that are not part of, and are contrary to, the president’s official duties,” the memo concludes.

It is WELL established in law that acceptance of a presidential pardon is an absolute admission of guilt.

I would say Trump's comment's on the matter come perilously close to a confession of high crimes and misdemeanors.

If Trump feels his staffers and relatives would or need to accept a pardon too, he has strongly implicated them in conspiracy, collusion, and/or malfeasance.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Quote:House Democrats want to know why a major Russian money-laundering case was abruptly settled

Quote:Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, on Tuesday tweeted an email chain from June 2016 in which he entertained accepting damaging information from a "Russian government attorney" about Hillary Clinton as part of the Kremlin's support for his father's campaign.
That attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, represents the family of Pyotr Katsyv, the former vice governor of the Moscow region, whose son, Denis, owns the real-estate company Prevezon. The DOJ had been investigating whether Prevezon laundered millions of dollars through New York City real estate when the case was unexpectedly settled two days before going to trial in May.
"Last summer, Donald Trump Jr. met with a Kremlin-connected attorney in an attempt to obtain information 'that would incriminate Hillary,'" the Democrats wrote, citing the emails he published. "Earlier this year, on May 12, 2017, the Department of Justice made an abrupt decision to settle a money laundering case being handled by that same attorney in the Southern District of New York.

One of these people is NOT under investigation for colluding with Russia.  I wonder who it could be?

Trump is shutting down ACA centers.

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/20/trump-adm...ities.html

Given that it also came out last week that he's spending ACA money to advertise AGAINST ACA... he's deliberately trying to make it fail. Typical conservative. "PROOF GOVT Doesn't work (cause we Republicans sabotage it!" Too bad most voters don't realize the answer is to stop voting in the republicans who sabotage it.

He's going to have to hurry to get exclusive credit for making ACA 'fail'.

My experiences with it to date have been less than stellar, and any continuation of the premium increases I have seen so far are going to be unsustainable if they continue. To me, the premium increase/'death spiral' is a very real problem.

And I also have to change insurance companies 12/31/17. Hope that goes smoothly, but that is one of those belief things we rail against here. If past is prologue, I'm looking at some huge cluster fuck on the horizon, I just don't know how it is going to manifest itself.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Quote:Americans split on impeaching Trump

Just six months after his inauguration, Americans already are split down the middle, 42%-42%, over whether President Trump should be removed from office, a new USA TODAY/iMediaEthics Poll finds.

While no serious effort is now underway in Congress to impeach Trump, the results underscore how quickly political passions have become inflamed both for and against the outsider candidate who won last year's campaign in a surprise. A third of those surveyed say they would be upset if Trump is impeached; an equal third say they would be upset if he's not.

Those Repubs seriously cannot let go of that Benghazi, can they?

Quote:Jason Chaffetz: Why is Congress questioning Jared Kushner — and not Chelsea Clinton for Benghazi?

Jason Chaffetz, who recently stepped down from the House of Representatives and into a Fox News gig, wondered why congressional investigators are focusing on Jared Kushner instead of Chelsea Clinton.

“Republicans need to get a backbone,” Chaffetz said. “Every time the Democrats say they need to call up Jared Kushner or Don Jr. — call up Chelsea Clinton, call up the Clintons.”

“There we have an inspector general who issues a report stating an actual crime,” Chaffetz said. “You have Bill Clinton, the former president, taking millions and millions of dollars from countries, that Hillary Clinton is going in and then doing business.”

“So every time a Democrat says ‘I gotta talk to Donald Trump Jr.,’ then go up and bring Chelsea Clinton in there,” Chaffetz continued, “because she was involved in the Benghazi situation, she was involved with the (Clinton) Foundation.”
