Yeah so I expect blowback from this. I posted on FB - It's early, so far no pitchforks and torches coming my way.
American politics has never been the thing of polite conversation...now it is simply saddening and disgusting. Anyhow -
I am conflicted after watching House Speaker Pelosi tear Trump’s speech in half. While I detest everything about Trump I also don’t think climbing down into the sewer with him is what is needed. What Pelosi did, in full view of the cameras, is akin to what Trump does on the regular with his Tweets. If the Dems are going to follow Trump’s lead we have to accept that neither party gives a good God damn about their constituents, decency, ethics, and taking the high road. I am sickened by how low government officials are allowed -no expected- to sink. No one can make America great again while wallowing in the muck.

I get what you're saying. It's distressing to see adults act so childishly, especially the people in charge of running the country. It's also a good reminder that our democracy is pretty broken.
What bothers me though, are the trump supporters tearing NP to shreds.
You don't get to scream moral outrage when you support a POTUS with zero morals .

![[Image: EQBywEEWoAEMxUK.jpg]](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EQBywEEWoAEMxUK.jpg) There's no doubt in my mind that Trump and some of his cronies are far worse than Speaker Pelosi could even dream of being.
But what we need is for the people who are elected to run the country to behave with some decorum.
The fact that Trump hasn't, doesn't, and simply can't is no excuse.
It's obvious that his followers feel able to act like complete cretins who are more than happy to bring back the ills of the past but it's not going to fix a damn thing for the people like Pelosi to decide it's okay to jump in the crap hole too. Trump has emboldened those who were somewhat controlled by what society said was acceptable to do and say in public. Now the other side is going to jump in shit too? Then what? Giant, raging clusterfuck comes to mind.
What's next? RBG sticking her tongue out at him and saying nah, nah, nah, nah - perhaps then mooning him while flipping him the bird.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

"Make america great again?" When the fuck was America ever better than it was in 2015? Simple answer: It wasn't.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

Trump jr.'s obvious misogyny
