Does anyone find it strange that at CPAC there is a golden statue that the christian right can worship?

Unfortunately, it looks like Trump is going to try and run again as a Republican. Sadly, there will be no third party splitting the Republican vote down the middle and practically guaranteeing a Democratic victory in 2024.

Why do I get the feeling that people were saying that in 2016? And before you make the obvious point about how shit his administration has been, bear in mind that after all that, up to and including WORSENING A DEADLY PANDEMIC, Trump somehow managed to convince 11,231,326 people who didn’t vote for him in 2016 to vote for him last year.
To be fair, we are about 74 electoral votes away from the NPVIC coming into force, which, given that the Dems have won the popular vote in every election since I was born except for one, would likely decimate the GOP’s chances at ever regaining the Presidency if put into effect in 2024.

The way it looks right now (and it absolutely could change), the Republican vote is already split down the middle. Roughly 55% of people who voted for Trump last year would do so again. If 100% of Trump voters weren't enough to win him the presidency in 2020, I find it very unlikely that 55% would put him over the top in 2024. Coupled with a survey done of CPAC attendees in which only 68% of attendees want Trump to run again, I suspect that a second Trump candidacy will have the life expectancy of a glass hammer. Boru

In 2020 Biden set a record for the most votes ever for president! You know who holds the number two position? Donald Trump for the same year. It ain't over 'til he dead or in prison. Polls don't mean shit; people lie all the time and panic at the point of voting. Trump presents as a bulwark against what republicans view as the looney left with their equal treatment of trans people, cancel culture (you can't freely mock people like back in the good ol' days! /sarcasm), and abortions given out like candy at a street fair. Oh, yeah, and they're going to take your guns or something.
