Mr. Trump, I've long thought that it would be refreshing to have as presidential candidate a competent, sane, highly intelligent, and civic-spirited outsider who was wealthy enough to run on his/her own terms independent of the parties' influence and not beholden to big-money interests -- a person who placed nation over class, financial self-interest, or partisan advantage. An inspiring leader who could unite people of different political outlooks in the service of the greater national good. A person who could appear on the international stage and make us proud. A person who could articulate and address the concerns and anxieties of people from all walks of life and who could help to heal the rifts (real and imagined) that separate Americans today.
