In a Sun op-ed last month, Frederic Hill came right out and said it: "Donald J. Trump is a Russian agent" (“Russia's biggest fan,” June 18). After his performance at Monday's summit with Vladimir Putin and the earlier NATO conference, is there now any doubt? It's been there in plain sight all along.

Early evidence was the gutting of the GOP's anti-Russia stance on Ukraine during the 2016 Republican campaign platform. More recent was Trump's demand to make the G-7 seven G-8 again by readmitting Russia. There's been so much more in between: abrogating our role as a world leader by bailing out of both the Paris climate agreement and the Iran nuclear deal; destroying our image as a beacon of hope for aspiring Americans, first by the Muslim travel ban and then through a policy to rip children away from their parents at the border; exploiting divisions among the U.S. populace by calling racist marchers "good people" and protesting NFL players an ugly expletive; exacerbating economic disparities by pushing massive tax cuts for the rich while cutting health care for the middle class; weakening citizen support for a free press and an independent justice system; insulting our friends and lavishing praise on despots; and perhaps worst of all, governing with lies and alternative facts to the point where we no longer know the truth or even value it.

President Trump's actions up to now have been treasonous, and his words in Helsinki were confirmation.
