Yes, does that come as a surprise to self-absorbed Christians?

If you don't like Bibles being in them stay at RV Parks, it's pretty simple. Last time I checked you could not force anyone to read a book, so it's not even a big deal. Considering it's the number one selling book of all time, it's not a bad one to have in a hotel. Consider it a little bonus, like someone shitting on your pillow :-(

You reply to the OP's post with obvious statements, totally and utterly missing the point of what he posted and why he made the thread. Also, I fixed your post for you.

I like the way you think!
...But please stop thinking, it's not you.

Wow. Gilligan, you seem to have actually stumbled upon an argument that's actually slightly cogent, as opposed to just face-palmingly stupid.
Let me clear it up for you: Of course, all the brutal leaders of the Communist movements were atheists (like Stalin or Chairman Mao), but It would be an oversimplification to claim that their brutality is due to atheism. In essence, when there were persecutions, almost never were they solely against those who follow religion, but religious followers are usually seen as one of a long list of "enemies of the state." Simply put, the communist regime of Rumania did not torture the priest just because they were atheists; they persecuted them because they were a threat to their total control over the people.

So even an atheist could be in danger in that regime?

If they went against the party line, even people responsible for bringing about the revolution in the first place could be in danger. And in many cases, they were. Even a cursory look into the purges of many communist nations reveals that the main reasons that they were persecuted is because they were perceived as enemies of the state.

Ever heard of Leon Trotsky? He was an atheist and devoted communist who was killed by one of Stalin's thugs as a result of a power struggle.

Not that I think you have any interest in learning anything which would undercut your bullshit religion but there are others around who might.

Quote:The Great Purge was a series of campaigns of political repression and persecution in the Soviet Union orchestrated by Joseph Stalin in 1936–1938.[1][2] It involved a large-scale purge of the Communist Party and Government officials, repression of peasants, Red Army leadership, and the persecution of unaffiliated persons, characterized by widespread police surveillance, widespread suspicion of "saboteurs", imprisonment, and executions.
