I never said that I "hate" the Bible. What I hate is how people have used the Bible throughout history to justify heinous acts.

And please show me where people have gone to war or killed others because of Mother Goose or Grimm's Fairy Tales.

Quote:Wasn't atheism one of the tenets of Communism? Google Richard Wurmbrand and you will see he was imprisoned and tortured for fourteen years FOR refusing to recant Christianity. He is also on YouTube.

You bring up Stalin as an example of how atheism kills people. You are rebuked because Stalin killed people in his own self interest, NOT because of atheism. You respond by citing an example of a guy who was IMPRISONED (NOT killed) in ROMANIA (NOT by Stalin)!

And so what? I can give you a much longer list of people who were killed by believers for NOT BELIEVING than you could ever muster up for believers who were killed for their beliefs by atheists.

At that time, Romania was under the Communist regime.

Why was Christianity SINGLED out as being stupid in this video?

So what? This does nothing to support your contention that Stalin killed people because of atheism.

If it wasn't because of atheism, why did Wurmbrand undergo "Christianity is Stupid" brainwashing for seventeen hours a day for weeks as in the YouTube video above? Not only was he imprisoned, but tortured as well. I know Stalin wasn't the leader of Romania, but that country was under the same system.

Yes, it is the hotel's choice. And it's discriminatory. Not to mention presumptuous. It's also a subtle way to promote a particular religion. All of which are reasons that cause me to object.

So you start off by telling us that Stalin killed people because of atheism. When we shoot that down, you bring up the story of ONE GUY who was imprisoned (not killed) in ROMANIA (not the Soviet Union). And you try to connect this to Stalin by saying Romania "was under the same system".

Ugh.

Show me a war that was fought because atheists were trying to spread their message. Show me where atheists burned believers at the stake. Show me where atheists accused others of "witchcraft" and hanged people.

Stalin subjucated religion because it was a rival for his power not because of atheism.

By the way Stalin once trained to become a priest.

Quote:Sent by his mother to the seminary in Tiflis (now Tbilisi), the capital of Georgia, to study to become a priest, the young Stalin never completed his education, and was instead soon completely drawn into the city's active revolutionary circles

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

1. Communism is not a plauralistic form of government. It does not booker active opposition to it and its programs in any form, whether that opposition is from the intelligentia, the peasantry, the labor union, rival political parties, or the Church. A great part of the victims of communist regime in fact consist of atheists who disagree politically with communists. So let the Christians not play for particular sympathy.

2. The hostility between communists and main stream Christian clergy was not one sided, nor was it just between Christian church and the radical communists. Before anyone has heard of communists, mainstream Christian churchs was vehemently hostile against the social changes promoted by the Social democrates, and in many countries the church actively aided the secret police in rounding up and arresting social democrates. Only later did fractions of Social Democrates radicalized into outright atheistic communists. So the hostility is almost hereditary and by no means one purely of unincited oppression by the communists. In the end, the changes advocated by the Social democrats which the church opposed with such vigor, female sufferage, limited work week, paid holidays, disability insurance, became accepted as basis for civilized societies. Agents of god offered no explanation why they thought differently a century ago.

Probably got his asshole stretched by the holy perverts. No wonder he despised them.

BTW, the French Revolution went after the church with a vengeance, too. The reason of course was the the church was a full partner in the suppression of the people and deserved to lose every head they lost.

It had nothing to do with "religion" and every thing to do with power.

As Jefferson sagely noted.

Quote:In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.

Jefferson knew the situation in France but it was equally true of Czarist Russia.

I couldnt care less mate. I think its supid that atheists hate the Bible though, any other book would be ok.
Perhaps we should put the God dellusion in there? then there would be no complaints
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

You dont hate God, you hate the church game.

As usual, Sol, you're wrong. The koran, the Book of Mormon, The Book of the Dead, the Avesta, the Vedas, etc., etc., are all equally stupid. I would object to them as well but no one puts them in hotels.

At least it would be something worth reading. Then again, who goes to a hotel to read?
