Pff. I'd settle for a competent government. Transparency would be a nice side-effect of that.

Transparency would work to enforce competency ... probably why the current government is so opaque. They need to hide their incompetence as much as possible -- not to mention foreign dalliances, emoluments, and so forth.

I'm keeping my head down, so that when this turd explodes, the shit misses me. As far as opaque goes, I think that all the leaks are coming from the people who serve every president, like those on White House staff, who probably don't get changed out with each administration. I don't know that that is true, but one can't replace all of those people that easily. A lot of vetting has to occur. You just have to know that they see this shit going on and think, "Dafuq?". Then again, how opaque is an administration, when the people in it are accused of crimes, but post an email trail exposing their guilt? Hapless might be a better word. This isn't a game show, in spite of how the Chumps treat it.

In a recent press conference, he added another new parameter he said would be necessary for a border wall:

"One of the things with the wall is you need transparency. You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can't see through that wall -- so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what's on the other side of the wall."

But that's not all: here's an actual reason he gave for why such a wall needs to be transparent:

"As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don't see them -- they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It's over. As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall."

Yes, he actually gave this as a plausible scenario.

On the bright side, he at least had the decency to scale back the potential border wall to about 700-900 miles.
