It is not our "burden" to prove to you that God does exist and that the Bible is truth. What is "evidence" or "proof" to me is idiotic and foolish to you. I cant change that. Thats between you and whatever your belief is. Just like what you believe and your "evidence" is foolish to me. The only "burden" is on yourself and myself individually. I can tell you one fact about each of us...one day we will die. Maybe you dont care or arent concerned at all about that fact, but i sure am concerned. That is why i encourage my older kids to take what I believe and have taught them and go into it with a very open mind. Listen to what other religious and non religious people have to say. Evaluate it and come to a conclusion that they know as truth. Because i can not do that for them. So again no burden of proof is on the other, its on ourselves.

For my money, buying into Pascal's Wager is foolish. It's putting a selfish desire - avoiding hell and/or oblivion - first, which is something most mono-deities frown upon, and it does nothing for you if you picked the wrong god. And even the god you've chosen may be angry that you picked the wrong sect. Maybe the right god is the Catholic version, or Episcopalian, or whatever version the snake handling rednecks believe in. Christianity itself has ~40k distinct flavors to choose from, so odds are you picked the wrong one.

Regarding the burden of proof, the bulk of the other theists that are here are trying, one way or another, to convince us that their god is real. Because they're making the initial claim via their holy books, then the burden of proof falls on them. They've yet to provide corroborating proof that the stories found in their holy books are true.

Gotcha. I understand. I will answer for myself. My own reasons for being here is to listen and read what you guys think. I will answer a question if someone asked about my faith/belief, but honestly hesitate. I am a born again Christain who believes in Jesus of the Bible. Not here to do any converting. I believe that i dont have the ability or power to convert someone. I cant change a persons heart.

Also, since you're all about proof and scientific evidence, do you have any proof for your claim that atheists have better mental health than theists?

It's only your burden if you want us to be convinced. If not, maybe you can talk about video games in one of the subforums or something. We didn't come to your forum to try to convince you God isn't real. We were minding our own business, here. You're welcome to participate, but frankly, your rant comes off as either ignorant or disingenuous, if not both.

You don't have to shoulder the burden of proof, but if you don't, we are justified in dismissing your assertion out-of-hand. No evidence needed to dismiss that for which no evidence has provided, said some Roman or another.

My opinion of you is falling rapidly. But to give you the benefit of the doubt, an 'argument from ignorance' is a logical fallacy in which lack of evidence to the contrary is presented as evidence in favor of a position. Mentioning it is a criticism of your argument, not of you personally.

How did the universe create itself?

1) It didn't it was already there 2) Unless you wish to call reality before the big bang something other than "the universe". In which case, the universe came out of that... but there's no reason for it to to be God. Because it's merely not being labelled as the universe. You could just as easily label the universe as "all that exists". Which would mean whatever existed before the big bang is also part of the universe.
