They are in the minority.  They are not going to enact their plan which, honestly, they already enacted in 2010.  Can it be improved?  Probably.  But really it was a first step.  It was what could be done at the time.  I don't know if they are "just as" opposed to single-payer as republicunts... and neither do you.  However, there are probably quite a few who don't think it is possible and, with the entire government in the hands of the fascists, they are probably right.  So some sort of short term fix might be best in the long run.

Neither should one expect that Sanders or any other left wing politician will have tangible success in any form of single payer plan. Seeing how slowly this obviously bad legislation died, I wouldn't get hopes up. This Congress will have to be voted out before we can get single payer.

There still remains the "hunt for the poison pill rider" game in the inevitable upcoming short term fix for the healthcare markets. The GOP could conceivably add a deferred repeal into an ACA fix with designed-to-fail terms.

They cannot get it through the senate under budget reconciliation which means that if enough Dems do not vote for the final bill it will not pass.  McConnell knows that.  This is a face saving device. 

Meanwhile, the WLB's lies aside, the ACA is functioning.  The republicunts hate to hear that.  Fucks up their whole message to the douchebags who vote for them.

True the reason the plan is not the best is because it was never completed and Republicans and the insurance industry diluted as much as possible.
