After I had my wrist surgery a few weeks back, I had to have my 90 year old mother in law open a bag of treats for the dogs.   She was quite amused.

Accept for the times I lived on campus at university, I’ve lived alone all my adult life. But one day as I stood in my kitchen I realized that I just couldn’t do it. I tried and tried to no avail. I went out into the hall and there was a man standing right outside my door talking to the lady across the hall.

I didn’t care. I was desperate and any man would have done at that point. I buttonholed him right in the hall and without even asking his name, I said, “I need a man.”
He jumped back, “What do you mean?”
“Open this jar.”

I strongly suspect that jars were specifically designed by men to protect themselves against gender obsolescence.

In my mind, men will never become obsolete.  There’s something about them. If you have one that’s special to you, let him know it before the sun goes down.

I declare July 24 as International Men’s Day.

I open the jars at work for the girls and every time they bring me one, or a box or whatever, I secretly panic. What if I can't do it? My image will be tainted by a moment of weakness. And I appreciate men more every time. Don't tell any of them that.

My woman also needs me to make sure she doesn't get lost.
She has so little sense of direction and coördination, it's actually quite adorable.

And I need her to not get lost myself, internally. She always drives me to be the best me I can be. She makes me more.
All in all. I guess that means I need her more on a fundamental level.
