It "burns" inside for a reason. Some acts burn us with invisible fire. Some even kill us. They even diagnosed it and called it "depression".

Please don't insult sufferers of depression, like myself, with childishly ignorant and simplistic shit like that, okay?

THIS ^^^.  What Cyber says, in spades.  GoneGuy wasn't depressed, he was copy-pasting an old xtian "inspirational witness" tall tale.  But to infer that there is ANY spiritual or supernatural cause for depression, and imply that it's due to a human failing or, more absurdly, to a human lack of deity worship of any sort, is beyond ignorant and insensitive.

It is literally your Immune System attacking your Central Nervous System, so it makes the nerves affecting the mood damaged in a way. So it is a kind of life-long chronic fate, with a depression you cannot escape: it has physical reasons; atop of all of that are the psychological reasons that make the condition so grim.

Believe me, I know what depression is. Don't let my young age fool you.

Atlas, I work at a hospital. I've been working in medicine for over a decade, and in that time I have literally typed over 50,000 reports --

-- including thousands of neurology reports.

A gentle hint, Atlas:  Do not, I repeat, do not attempt to bullshit me or anyone else here regarding that particular subspecialty.  I know people with MS, I know a doctor who treats it, I know the difference between relapsing-remitting, primary progressive and secondary progressive MS, and I know what drugs are used to treat it.

I strongly advise you to not mix up mythology with medicine.  Keep them rigorously separate at all times, as is proper.

Just another made-up christian tall tale that they think might get people running into a church, begging to be brainwashed.
So no empathy for GoneGuy is necessary.  He's just another lying xtian plagiarist.

Good, I wouldn't wish depression on anyone - xtian or otherwise. The OP is obviously a coward as well as a liar. (S)he has a poorly developed moral sense. Interesting to see what benefit being a Christian has had in helping the OP to develop character.

Great advice for all followers of every religion. Great advice for Muslims and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists and Christians and any religion one can think of.

Scientific method is a tool, not a holy book, not a religion. It is why medical research companies adapt a flu vaccine every year to the evolving virus, and that vaccine will work on any human in the world regardless of their personal beliefs. It is why planes fly in the sky regardless of the nation they fly over. It is why a computer works no matter the personal religion of the user.

While it is certainly true, humans with religious degrees can hold scientific degrees, scientific method itself is not there to point to any one club or prop up any god claim. Scientists with personal religious beliefs have to compartmentalize and cherry pick to keep those bad claims.

The most recent trend over the past couple centuries by theists of all religions is to try to split the baby and call science and religion separate but equal. No, not even remotely equal. On top of Dawkins "God Delusion". Two other books , "God The Failed Hypothesis", but also "The New Atheism", by Victor Stenger go into why humans make up these bad claims. But especially "The New Atheism" Victor argues, and I agree, there is no splitting the baby, and that science DOES have something to say about god claims.

These drugs never treat anything; they only "slow down" the decay.
In other words; they lessen the damage caused by the flare-ups. Eventually I know what will happen -And you know it too-: disability. Secondary Progressive MS.

So believe me morality and God do force themselves when we look at civilizations that had it all, and could've invest in easing the pain of others, but instead started a war here or a conflict there, with cash flowing in the pockets of corrupted men, instead of investing it in stuff like inventing new drugs and look into the misery of others.

Believe me, I'm not bullshitting. It doesn't even suit who I am

For the most part I agree with this. However, if the patient believes in the mythology, it needs to be taken into consideration with regard to the medical treatment.

Dude, we in the west as you call it have NHS... its not perfect and always motive for discussion, but those near me that died, got their best treatments.

Yes, investigation into better treatments could be done and should be done. Its called science, not religion. Your god should want its creation to understand its "universe" they were brought into. To better survive, wisely.

That is why I dont believe in gods. It is a bullshit created by those that seek power to themselves by being prophets of piss and shit. If you want to postulate on the unknown, bring us a way to find if what spews out of your mind can be methadologically experienced.

So the fuck what? Hate to burst your bubble buddy, but there is no "forever" so there still is no medicine that will cure death, we all die from something eventually. So while some medicines/ operations can cure, and while the ones you talk about now don't currently cure, medical research in can lead to a cure in the future. But  even with finding cures, there will never be a cure for death regardless, so yea, ultimately everything medical can still only delay death, not prevent it. And what real human doctors do is still far more than a fictional sky hero will ever do.

Again Atlass, if someone quoting the bible and pointing to medicine wont convince you you need to be a Christian, why should anyone here reading this be convinced when you try it?

Or do what people do when they get depressed.

Depression sucks, but if you think the idea of a sky hero using bribes or threats as a way to cope with depression there simply is no polite way to put it, NONSENSE!

Are you retarded or something Angry ... Withdrawn Blush

Anyway I never said anything about God. I simply pointed out the fact that 'feelings' had nothing to do with the soul, and then diagnosised the signs of depression.

My advise as bad as it was was to suppress their feelings and eat till the felt better or go seek help

So that means I did not reference God in any way shape or form as this is not a God problem/issue.

Yes, retarded is a very sad bit of the theist mindset.

Depression has good evolutionary explanations, a fact of life you reject.

Calling people retarded is the poisoning of the well that theists excel in, without even understanding.
