To be honest, I'm not sure he so much did it to dismantle LGBT rights, though that's an obvious consequence. I think he did it to score points on the current health care debate that's happening right now, which is why he mentioned the medical cost of transitioning. Right now, all of the bigots in the U.S. are urging their representatives to support Trump.

Trans Navy SEAL Veteran to Trump "Let's meet face to face and tell me I'm not worthy"

A former Navy SEAL Team 6 member who is transgender, who also helped track down Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, is calling out President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender soldiers.


Kristin Beck, who served 20 years as Chris Beck in the Navy SEALS,  that Trump’s military ban unfairly discriminates people like her.

“Being transgender doesn’t affect anyone else,” Beck said, alluding to Trump’s concerns that transgender service members would be a distraction.

Beck also challenged Trump to say to her personally that her service didn’t help the country’s national defense goals. “Let’s meet face to face and you tell me I’m not worthy,” . “Transgender doesn’t matter. Do your service.”

The RAND Corporation estimates that  of the armed forces are transgender individuals. Trump suggested in his tweets that medical costs for soldiers who are transgender also played a role in his decision, a choice that Beck adds doesn’t add up.

“You’re talking about .000001% of the military budget,” she said.

She also questioned why some individuals, like the president, assume that those who are transgender would somehow be a distraction.

I realize we're but a year or so into this, but how does the US military compare to Dr. Bowers, for instance? Do records follow the individual on deployments and reassignments (work, not gender) ??

Does the military have Drs comparable to Dr. Bowers in regards to positive outcomes and repoir/reputation with patients and prospective patients?

Does the military exercise due diligence on keeping their medical facilities stocked with appropriate medicines and accoutrements ?

And what is the trend? Is the military improving, are they consulting with outside clinics and have they committed to state of the art procedures? Is the VA coming up to speed in after service monitoring and providing services?

So, is anyone keeping track of how this is going so far? Horror stories, glowing reviews? I got nothing and I'm loathe to recommend someone pursue a course of action with serious ramifications without knowing I'm not making a mistake.

I'm highly skeptical Trump is interested in acquiring said information

Today is Trumply's first laying a finger on this issue (so much so the Pentagon was notably caught unaware by the tweets) so to date, we're looking at the last administrations effort's here. Was it all/mostly lips service to a voting constituency, and/or was there a commitment (read that as funding and doing the hard work to do it RIGHT) to actually having a quality program? We're evaluating a vast government bureaucracy here, one tasked with a new and very serious undertaking, and frankly, my skepticism is on double red alert standby.

I'd be very interested in those "horror stories" (if any) and "glowing reviews" (if any) posted prior to today.
