If evidence for god is in abundance, why is faith necessary?
RE: If evidence for god is in abundance, why is faith necessary?
Salvation? Really? That is a post-reform idea only(which was not a reform but, another split that has since fragmented and is still fragmenting). Does anyone really think that such an idea existed before 16th century Martin Luther? You've got to be kidding right? The argument before Martin Luther was about "justification" which is also non-biblical. Martin Luther; like many of the acclaimed "Church Fathers" was a FRIGHTENING anti-Semitic whom freely admitted to manipulating Scripture to validate his goofy ideas about "salvation"! Also who's rhetoric about burning synagogues and kicking out the Jews from Germany was borrowed by the Nazis.

The word "salvation" is a French word transliterated from the Latin "salvationem" built from the Latin verb "salvi", which generally speaking, means: to make whole, protect, deliver, preserve, etc. Most specifically means: a mother whom protects her child from harm. Is it any wonder then why Jerome used that word when he translated the Greek noun 'sOtEria' into Latin(no idea of "salvation" yet existed)?

The biblical very general Greek feminine noun sOtEria, translated/transliterated "salvationem"(Latin), "salvation"(French and English), built from the very general Greek verb sOzO means: To deliver; to protect; to preserve; to keep safe and sound; to make whole; to rescue(save) from harm; etc. It has no sense of post-reform ecclesiastical "save" or "salvation".

Really? Since the word translated as "saved" is a Greek verb: how can you be a verb?

The biblical idea of sOtEria is to be delivered; protected; preserved; saved from harm; made whole; etc, so that we may live the life of God's promise where He alone is the source, protector, and provider of the life of His promise to anyone willing to follow, that we may experience the Kingdom of sky(authoritatively up--heaven) right here, right now.

We cannot go to "Heaven" when we die! That place is called "Paradise/Abrahams Bosom". We also do not go to "Hell" when we die living a self directed life which sucks, because we are already there! Biblical "Heaven and Hell" are places you can live right here, right now! If you want to know what it's like to live in the Kingdom(rulership) of sky--ask me! If you want to know what living in Hell is like--ask an alcoholic or a drug addict!

The Word of God is all about that Kingdom of His promised life right here, right now with simple specific instructions the ecclesiastical world ridiculously calls "Law". The bible is about zOE-life, not "salvation"! It's called "The Book of Life" for a reason.

No, no one taught me this and I didn't go to college so that I could be just as stupid as the "Polly want a Cracker" professors whom had to get an "A" and pass a ridiculous ordination test which includes "salvation". I merely followed the Great Shepard. What a life but, that's merely anecdotal.

Ampule, tell me more about this Great Shepard of which you speak. Sheppard’s look after sheep I am reliably informed, and what do we make out of sheep? Well there's lamb cutlets and what's the other stuff, oh yes that's right, wool. Socks are made out of wool.

Wow! Your questions are complex. God, the bible and life are my lifelong study as well as, every science you can think of--including language. Yet, please allow me to tell you that I am a 58yr old PK(access to an amazing library) whom grew up in a fish bowl of the impossible. In my late 20's, I left the church, for good, because it made no sense to the life I was living. I was kicked out for having a life of God, and a brain, while proclaiming life to the dead ones, in my forties.

The life of God's promise is just that--a promise. IF we follow, He, the Shepherd, prepares--simple. Yet, the church wants to talk to me about "predestination" based on a ridiculous translation of Romans 9. I have studied Greek grammatical inflection for years(since 13). The English book of Romans is the Bride of Frankenstein and, the English book of Ephesians is burned beyond recognition, compared to the original Greek! All in an effort to support reform theology(not that pre-reform/post 1st century, was worth a damn). It appears to me that the hierarchy of the church wants all the glory and power. However, according to the original Greek, God gave all the glory and power to us and not the clergy! So that we might live!

The bible states that both life and death are a fragrant aroma to God. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4 that, "Death works in us(Paul and Timothy--teachers), but life in you (Corinthians--students)". Yet, how many Pastors tout that their death is true life! I could go on and on all day.

Sorry to correct your spelling but, it's Shepherd. Dude, you spelled it wrong twice!

God, the Great Sheppard, is my Master and Lord. His name(in Englsih) is Jesus. Read Psalm 22 if you care to understand God.

I did write a Kindle eBook, "Wake Up Call" William McCoy, which 'splains it if you care to read. I'm currently rewriting, fixing and editing before we go into print. This is what the editor said about my book:

What you have sitting before you is a book that contains ideas that have not been taught in nearly 2,000 years... Soon after the end of the first-century, so-called theologians of every stripe went to work busily adding their own little twists and spins to the Word of God. In time, these little nuances became unquestionable dogma backed up by absolute power. Many have paid the ultimate price for not following the religious line of the day in lockstep conformity. In centuries past, expressing the ideas contained within this book in public carried with them the threat of isolation, excommunication, unspeakable tortures and a myriad of painful methods of death -- all dreamed up by sincere, good, pious, highly-educated, but very religious people. In fact, the very foundation of our Christian heritage was laid brick by intolerantly religious brick and reads like a virtual who’s who of religious tyranny, war, crusade and genocide. Communicators of the Word of God today, just like in centuries long past, are sincerely adding to the Word of God their own little twists, spins and calling these nuances, “Bible doctrine”. Today, the foundation of our Christian faith is not truth at all, but has become a convoluted and esoteric cluster of “religibable” and magic. This, over time, has resulted in an ever-growing list of denominations, orders, sects and cults. These facts are both a testament and a condemnation of the entire modern church which is a reflection of Christian history. The universal church today, instead of being a place of unimaginable unity, fellowship and love, has become a vast collection of groups, some openly hostile to each other. They’re beating each other up with their religious sticks, vying for power and human glory while at the same time they extend their welcoming hand sheathed in a glove of false humility. Their only game is to parrot the pseudo-intellect gleaned from the seminaries of the world. This work takes the sum total of all post first-century Christian thought and flushes it ALL down the toilet in one huge stinking load. If that wasn’t enough for you, this book is also like taking a wrecking ball (to your benefit) to the stained glass windows of religiosity and smashing them into a million pieces. But that’s not all, this book likewise takes the whole herd of pampered sacred cows to the slaughterhouse, and we're having a Bar-B-Que! This work is a result of over 40 years of studying and experiencing God's zOE life. It takes you from the NOUN faith to YOUR glorification by the living God and introduces the Hyper-literal translation to the world -- the ONLY means of seeing for yourself what the Word of God says, without deception, manipulation or theological prejudice. Take a journey with me, if you dare, to see what God says in black and white. Along the way, you'll see treasures long since hidden in plain sight.

You must be vewwy smart.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Alter the bolded to something along the lines of "-Insert something about the author- dares to take us on a journey" and "well find" respectively. It invites the reader rather than challenges them personally, and implies that someone other than yourself wrote it.

I didn't think the question was that complex, even a mediocre writer can introduce themselves with brevity, but here you are making a long-winded introduction within the thread instead of introducing yourself in a new thread in the Introductions section of the forum. I do love the condescending attitude you project despite apparently not understanding how an internet discussion forum works. I'm sure proclaiming how educated and otherwise brilliant and special you are will win you many friends here.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yes, I am the author. The editor is my little brother whom was extremely helpful. We both grew up as pastor's kids(PK) which ain't easy. But, way better then being a pastor's wife. Poor mom! We are still very close even though he lives in Newport Beach CA and I live on Maui.

There are two people I love whom refuse to read my book. One is my mother and one is my wife. Bizarre huh? I can't even talk about it.
