LOL......"Khem is wrong"
It's not my opinion that the vatican infallibly declared genesis to be a history, or that the catechism says what it does. It's not my fault that your church is duplicitous -or- that you are incapable of understanding the difference between evolution, id, and special creation.
Maybe you should point that angst where it belongs, at the people who do not respect you enough to speak plainly to you, and in so doing consign you to repeating their half truths and blatant lies - or more strangely..if their fairy tales are true...risk your eternal soul by putting you through that?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It's always fun when an atheist who has never even been catholic tries to tell me they know more about my religion than I do.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

But I still think that any religion which wants to put a set of trainer wheels on the theory of evolution by saying god made it so is still better off in every way over a theist who fights against accepting the obvious truth.
You know how little kids will drive you crazy asking a "..but why?" to every answer sometimes? Asking why the theory of evolution is as described is just one of those. If offering a here-is-where-god-comes-in answer helps the medicine go down, where is the harm?

I've just never understood the impetus behind shooting the messenger, lol. The irony in the RCC's crisis of faith, at present, is that they themselves created it and now can't find a way to contain it.

I suspect that the infallible decrees of popes and the catechism of the catholic church are more authoritative than eithewr of us, but you be you, CL - don't mistake my comments for a criticism of your incredulity when it comes to your own churches doctrine.
I don't believe in it either. In any case, being a religious practitioner doesn't really suggest that a person knows much about their own religion. The RCC laments this in their flock constantly, but, at the same time..as we've seen, they positively depend upon it as well. Otherwise, how could they float the "it's okay to believe in evolution" PR campaign, eh?

Yes, it was the scientist part of him that made the discovery, not the priest part of him. Science and religion are 2 seperate fields. My point was that contrary to Khem's claims, it is not against Catholicism to believe in evolution, considering the father of the Big Bang theory was none other than a catholic priest himself.

I might say the fact that you remain a catholic means you are not even aware there is much about catholicism for you to know other than what the Catholic Church wants you to know.

Making the Catholic priest part of his life largely irrelevant, surely? To his scientific side, I mean. The one doesn't inform the other.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I can;t take credit for either...you must realize that? I'm not the pope, and they didn't consult me for doctrine.

What does the latter have to do with the former.....and perhaps you should, at least, put an asterisk behind "evolution"?

Again, relevant to the point I was making that belief in evolution is not against Church teaching.
Not relevent to his theory/discovery itself.
