When all those Egyptian soldiers rained down out of the sky and covered the mountains.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

My personal opinion is that the biblical narrative was a local cataclysmic water event in Southeast Asia at the end of the Ice Age, retained in ancestral memory and expressed in flood myths across cultures.

Excellent, pick an area on a map and we can see what it would have taken to produce conditions similar to those in he biblical narrative.  Or, in this, are you proposing that the biblical narrative is in no way even remotely accurate..just a "ancestral memory" that waves happen...somewhere? SE asia, no less? You reckon there was an immigrant population of se asians that had moved into the levant? I'm trying to figure out why you floated this one..and hoping there's more to it than picking someplace on the globe where it rains and/or floods alot and flinging it at the wall.

@Anom
The Bosphoros Deluge hypothesis was discredited as soon as someone else took a look at it.

@Cyber
At least that actually happened, lol. Wink

It's just a story. It's not an attempt at history or an "ancestral memory" - it's a vehicle for theology. It isn't based on anything that ever happened, and it doesn't need to be. People are capable of telling stories. Trying to tease out the "real" history of story x is a mistake we've consistently made with mythologies. It;s a mistake that religious orthodoxy promotes and has always promoted as a consolation prize for having been found to be peddling fraud.

Following the brilliant strategy of smothering the enemy under the weight of our corpses, and make sure our corpse piles overtop the highest mountain so the enemy has nowhere to hide.

Somehow that does sound very much more like Jehovah than Ra, so there it is, God of the Bible proven. God of the pharaoh shown false.
