Tennessee shooting
|
Last year a cop pulled along side of me at a light and waved. I rolled my window down and he told me that both my brake lights were out but that the top light was still on ( its a mini-van). I thanked him for the alert. The whole incident was accomplished without him pulling out his gun even once.
Of course, I'm an old white guy which explains everything. RE: Tennessee shooting

Yeah, all that's been reported as far as I've seen is that he had mental health issues and a history of being suicidal. And he was violent with an ex girlfriend. I'll keep updated.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

It can't help with these kinds of incidents that the mental health system in TN is broke as fuck. I'm not sure if it's just here (probably not) but I've noticed a huge rise in our psychiatric patients over the last few years and a significant decay in the process for treatment to go along with it.
Mental health facilities are either full up with huge waiting lists for a bed, or they're screening anyone with anything that can be construed as having a violent history (which is basically anyone with serious issues). Not to mention how places that regularly see patients for outpatient treatment handle their patients.
The mental health system in the country is broke as fuck. Doesn't matter where you are, if you suspect a family member is having a breakdown don't call the cops. It's about the surest way to get them killed.

Quote:So far this year, 648 people have been shot and killed by police, according to The Washington Post. Out of those people, 152 people were mentally ill. Shitty odds. |
