1% of American citizens are without power and viable drinking water.

Idea for Puerto Ricans: hold a rally and denounce the NFL. Trump will give you whatever you want.

That percentage is a lot higher if you count the poor communities that also exist in the continental US, especially areas like Flint, Michigan.

Yes, I was thinking about a better formulation - I mean acutely. If a comparable situation occurred anywhere else in a region of 3 million inhabitants in the US, there would be barely any other topic in the news, would there

Huffington Post has been updating the news multiple times daily. The entire electrical grid destroyed. Guatajaca dam is failing. Huge humanitarian crisis. I am looking forward to the day Puerto Rico elects to become our 51st state. Glad to have them!

You have a humanitarian crisis of historic proportions in your own country and we get a "meh, they have debt with wall street" from the president with 5 days delay and minimal media coverage, FEMA doesn't get command to act and there's a general level of indifference in the air. What is this shit even.
It's startling. There's such little coverage in the mainstream media, it seems. I listen mainly to NPR, and they're covering it well, and it seems heartbreaking to me.
More than a few people think this is going to be Trump's Katrina.
I personally wonder if Trump doesn't give a fuck about them because they're, well, Puerto Ricans and therefore not Real Americans.
I think that given the unusual logistics challenges, they need to assign a two-or three-star general officer from the USAF or Navy. They've got food in warehouses which cannot be distributed due to the lack of fuel for the trucks. People are without power even from generators for the same reason. It won't be long before potable water is scarce. Unless our government kicks it into overdrive, we are going to see what is already a disaster get many times worse.

Trump can't blame the media for not focusing enough on Puerto Rico to give him a head's up, even then he probably would have called it "fake news", because he was too busy unduly and negatively influencing the media in his favor by way of arguing with footballers.
The man seriously does not belong in office as president.

I heard on NPR today that 48 cargo ships with generators, gasoline, water, medical supplies were in route. I heard also that Trump was on the way. God help those people!

The WLB has finally been embarrassed enough to move his ass.

Hey, it only took a week. Of course, they aren't there yet.
